The Super Bowl will Play Like it was 2007

From the Sporty Mouth of dev4life | On: Jan 23 2012

The AFC and NFC Championship games were well played except for a costly fumble and missed field goals that ultimately brought the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens’ season to an end. The Rematch that took almost five years to come together will be in two weeks. The revenge-seeking New England Patriots will play the New York Giants. The last time these two teams met a Perfect Season and Super Bowl title was at stake. Giants ended the Patriots’ run on Perfection in 2007 and it would be Eli Manning first Super Bowl win.

Offense versus defense, Elite quarterback against a quarterback that thinks he belongs in the same class, or the run versus the passing attack are several ways you could describe the upcoming Super Bowl. It looks to be another exciting contest between two teams that are playing good football. New England has the explosive offense and a coach who is masterful at providing a game plan that masks the New England’s weak defense. New York always seems to find a way to play their best football when it counts. This year is no exception they are playing at their peak with great momentum going into the Super Bowl. Many football fans and experts did not expect New York to end their season in Indianapolis playing for a Super Bowl title. However, the Giants proved everyone wrong by capturing the NFC Championship.

New England rages against the tradition of defenses win championships. Their defense in the AFC title game was solid, and I expect more solid play against the Giants. They will need it, because unlike the Ravens, the Giants can find their way into the end zone. Once again, a shootout favors the explosive New England’s offense. However, they must contend with a pass rush that can put Brady on his back.

New York Giants will try to run the ball and control the clock. On defense, Giants want to pressure Brady as much as possible. Brady may not have looked his best in the AFC Championship game, but New York should not expect two consecutive subpar games by Brady. He will be ready to play. However, the Giants have a better defense than the Patriots; therefore, I am picking the Giants to win their second Super Bowl with Manning up under center.
