UConn Huskies Turn Butler’s Hope to Mush and Wins National Title

Kemba Walker and the UConn Huskies would not be denied a National Championship on Monday night. The 53-41 score was enough for Jim Calhoun to become only the fifth coach to win at least three National Titles as he won his third national title. Huskies was the hottest team coming into March Madness, and they rode it all the way to a National title.

The game was not a dogfight; in fact, Butler’s offense was the worst in a National Championship game’s history. It is impossible to imagine that a team can shoot 19 percent a game; however, the Bulldogs did just that. The Huskies played good defense, but it was poor shooting that ultimately led to Butler losing a second consecutive title game. Twelve made field goals for an entire game as a team was the wrong night to have an atrocious shooting night.

Four Teams Are Elite Eight Bound, but no No. 1 Ohio State

North Carolina Tar Heels are Elite. Heels reached the Elite Eight in convincing fashion as they imposed their dominance in the first half and did not look back as they crushed Marquette 81-63. Kansas Jayhawks turned any hope of Richmond being fit for the glass slipper into a pumpkin. The Jayhawks defeated Richmond 77-57 to put them in the Elite Eight as the only number 1 seed to make it that far. VCU is Elite Eight bound for the first time in school’s history, and they had to take Florida State to an Overtime period to do it. With a 72-71 victory over Florida State, they continue to make skeptics eat their words as many thought they did not belong in the tournament.
