Stephen Strasburg: 5 Games into his MLB Career
Stephen Strasburg has pitched five games in the big leagues and has looked great doing it. He has been the pitcher everyone expected but the run support of the Washington Nationals has not helped the young rookie pitcher.
Strasburg has managed to get off to 2-2 won loss record and 1 no decision. He has struck out 48 batters and before the Atlanta Brave loss of 5-0 on Monday his Earn Run Average was 1.78. Those numbers are not too shabby. He has shown that he has excellent command and he is a rookie pitcher who will have those stretches that is expected of a rookie.
Washington Nationals needs some run production that will help any pitcher’s confidence when he is pitching with a lead. Nationals have only been able to score 1 run in Strasburg’s previous three starts. In his last three outings Strasburg has lost two games and 1 no decision. Nationals’ fans need not worry; he will continue to be the asset that made him the first overall pick.
They will be more games like his first Major League game he pitched against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his first 5 games, he has done well and he must continue to go forward learning a little more with every game he sees and pitches. He has some exciting years ahead of him; however, the Nationals can do me a favor and get the franchise pitcher some run support.
