Why the Spurs’ NBA Championship Hopes Rest on Tony Parker’s Ankle

How much will the Tony Parker’s ankle injury hamper the Superstar in the NBA Finals. If the San Antonio Spurs have any chance of stopping the Miami Heat’s three-peat, Parker’s ankle cannot hold him back. Parker had some rest and it should help his chances of bouncing back. However, when you get to the lane as Parker do, his ability to cut to the basket cannot be limited by the ankle injury.

I am sure he will play the game and series is too important for him not to play. With the Spurs, they have shown that a lineup change has not hurt them, but I not sure this will hold true if they try to replace Parker. Patty Mills and Corey Joseph are ready to go but the most likely scenario is Manu Ginobili would start if Parker cannot play.

The Spurs would have to test their great system if Parker can get any run. San Antonio have proven no matter what, their success is based on the team instead of one or two players. Sorry to say, Spurs cannot win without Parker being effective in the NBA Finals. He must be able to get into the lane as he did in last year’s NBA Finals. Once Parker beats the defender, the Heat does not have a player that you could consider a rim-protector to stop Parker. Spurs’ championship hopes rest on Parker’s ankle, and it is that simple.
