Rondo Out for the Season What will the Boston Celtics do Now
Where do the Boston Celtics go from here now that they know their all -around all-star point guard Rajon Rondo will be out for the season? Rondo suffered a torn ACL injury in Boston’s double overtime 100-98 victory over the Miami Heat.
Celtics’ roster does not have a player that can step on the floor and give the team what they will miss with Rondo in the lineup. His quickness, ability to get into the lane and of course getting people the ball in the best position to score are irreplaceable. Without Rondo, the Celtics becomes much slower than what they were. Kevin Garnett had an easier time to scoring with Rondo in the lineup; therefore, look for his point production to drop. The Boston Celtics will deeply miss the 24.3 points that occurs from the assists by Rondo. It shows he get scorers the ball when they needed and want it. The 24.3 points off assists leads the league. Fans will miss him in the NBA All-Star game and he would have made the NBA All Star Game Packages & Hospitality Tickets 2013-02-14 Houston, TX, Toyota Center – TX the hottest sports event ticket. Rondo has more all-star games that will happen in his career. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Going forward, Courtney Lee may gain the starting assignment, but it will be more like the team playing point guard by committee. Jason Terry will see some time at the point; however, he is more of a scorer than a playmaker. Will Boston contend without Rondo, Many people including the Celtics’ Head Coach Doc Rivers think they will contend? My opinion, they do not contend and will not make the NBA playoffs. With the trade deadline coming up, this may be the time to blow up the team and finally get some pieces that will complement Rondo when he comesback next season. The facts are both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have few good years left, and they do not run the floor well. The future in Boston is Rondo; therefore, it is time to prepare the team for when he makes his return. It means finding players that are willing to run and can finish.
It is unfortunate of the injury to one of the best point guards in the league. The Boston Celtics will need to make some moves before the trade deadline to give them a better chance to make to the NBA Playoffs.
I like to hear your thoughts regarding what you think Boston should do and if they will make the NBA Playoffs.
