Are the New York Jets Super Bowl Ready?
Last year Gang Green, the New York Jets came within one game of making it to the Super Bowl led by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez. The questions on most Jets fans mind will they represent the American Football Conference in the Super Bowl. Once again, they were one game away and with the moves made in the off season could catapult them into the Super Bowl.

The most significant move made in the off-season for the Jets was not getting the aging LaDamian Tomlinson, but it was the acquisition of another former San Diego Charger Cornerback, Antonio Cromartie. Why I consider the move so significant because of the style of play on defense the Jets like to play. Rex Ryan likes to blitz and in order to blitz you must have secondary that is great in man to man coverage. Cromartie if he returns to form, he will be great in man to man coverage. Well, everyone knows about Revis’ Island, he invites all the good receivers to visit but it is more like being locked away on Alcatraz. Darrelle Revis is that good and along with Cromartie, it will be enough to allow the pressure to get dialed up and make opposing quarterback disconnect with good decision-making and finding open receivers.

The Jets will continue a ball control offense that will feature Shonn Greene as a starting running back but expect L.T. and the rookie out of University of Southern California Joe McKnight to share the running load. If the running game by committee works well, it will make it easier for Sanchez in his second year under the center.

Sanchez has more weapons to throw to with the acquisition of Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Holmes will make the Jets receiving corps significantly better. Holmes can stretch the field and if Braylon Edwards ever solve his drop ball problem then the Jets has threats that Sanchez can find.
If Sanchez is considered the second coming of Broadway Joe then he must cement it by winning a Super Bowl. Sanchez had an average rookie season in regard to stats but it is poise and composure that assisted the Jets in their run to the AFC Championship game. It will be an interesting season and I am anxious to see the Jets’ defense go at opposing quarterbacks. Colts need to look out because the Jets on paper are a lot better team than last year and this season Jets could be good enough to finally get 1 game better more like Super Bowl ready.
