The outspoken Ozzie Guillen is the new Florida Marlins manager and the Boston Red Sox are on the verge of the biggest let down in baseball. These are perhaps the biggest story going on in Major League Baseball. Guillen is named the manager but the Chicago White Sox grossly mishandled his firing or at least letting him finish the season would have been classy. It is more proof that Ozzie had wore out his welcome with the front office in Chicago.

Boston will have to beat out Tampa Bay Rays for a Wild Card berth. There is possibility of one game playoff if both teams remained tied. Red Sox can only blame themselves for being in the position of battling the Rays. They are 5-17 in the month of September. This historic meltdown will only take a good turn if the Red Sox win the Wildcard.

Guillen will get a clean slate going into Florida’s job but he will also get a new field and the team will be called Miami Marlins. Marlins will try to become contenders under Guillen and perhaps his flamboyant personality will be just what is needed to get the team going in the right direction.

Baseball is all the talk this time of year and it will be interesting see how the Rays-Redox Wildcard drama will unfold. Fans will have to wait to next year see if Guillen can turn the Marlins into a contender.
