Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies are winners in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series. Both games were beginning of the semifinal round of the NBA Playoffs. Memphis continues to be a problem for their opponents. Miami Heat took care of business especially Dwyane Wade.

Grizzlies defeated Oklahoma Thunder, and they remain the most surprising team in the Western Conference playoffs. The final score was 114 to 101 and the Thunder had no answer for Zach Randolph. Randolph finished the game with 34 points and 10 boards. Kendrick Perkins and the rest of the Thunder’s big men could not contain Randolph nor could they stop Marc Gasol. Gasol had a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Oklahoma was suppose to contain inside game of the Grizzlies and in Game 1, it did not happen. Kevin Durant scored 33 points and Russell Westbrook contributed 29 points. Thunder will continue to struggle as long as Westbrook continues to be a shoot first point guard. It does not help his team when his shot selection is somewhat suspect. Inside defensive presence is foundation to a series win for the Thunder. Both Randolph and Gasol are not going away.

The most anticipated NBA Playoff series since Lebron James made the jump to the Heat was under way in the favor of the Heat. Dwayne Wade actually showed that Boston would not be a problem at least in Game 1. D-Wade chipped in 38 points and he was the leading scorer of the Heat. Bosh did not have a good game, but they managed to win 99-90. Lebron had a solid Game 1. He finished the game with 22; however, his 8 of 19 shooting needs to improve. James Jones scored 25 points that is an added bonus for the Heat.

Boston needs more offensive production out of Kevin Garnett in Game 2. His six points is not going to be enough offense for Boston to take the series. He did his job against Bosh, but Garnett will need score at least 15 points per game to help win this NBA Playoff series. Ray Allen led Boston in scoring with 25 points. Rajon Rondo turned the ball over 5 times and he only managed 8 points. Rondo needs to protect the ball, and get Garnett the ball when he sets up in the post.

Memphis and Miami have a lot to prove and they both got off to the right start with a win in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series.
