Beckett Pitched His First Career No-hitter Against the Philadelphia Phillies

The no-hitter has always made me take notice of Major League Baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Josh Beckett had everyone take notice as he pitched his first no-hitter in the 6-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Beckett bounced back from surgery and doubts by fans and himself if he would ever pitch in the Bigs again. Beckett his own biggest critic doubted if his pitching capability would allow him to pitch a no-hitter. However, he does not have to doubt anymore as the first career no-hitter clearly made a believer out of fans, the Phillies, and himself.

Washington Nationals Star Bryce Harper Aggressive Play Could Be A Problem

Stop if you have heard this before, Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals is hurt again. Major League Baseball has long and grueling schedule and some injuries are almost unavoidable. However, there are some players like Harper is constantly injured. Harper is an important part to the Nationals making the MLB Post-season.

Harper’s latest injury is to his thumb. He is on the 15-day disabled list. He injured his thumb in aggressive head-first diving slide for a triple. You want player to play hard but the don’t-quit and aggressive style of play can be costly for team and player over time. He missing games that his play and bat is needed. It is early into the season and Harper’s injury may not hurt as much as being injured in must-win games later in the season. Once he returns, Harper will still be that aggressive player; therefore how long will it be before he is sidelined again.

When you consider what the city of Boston has been through this season, you know the fans and players really enjoyed the victory. Winning the World Series in 6 games, you can look at great pitching and the hot bat of Ortiz. Ortiz was 11-16 and he drove in 6 RBIs. Ortiz also had two homeruns to power the Red Sox to another World Series win over the Cardinals. Ortiz’ .760 On base percentage is the second best in the history of the World Series. A performance like that is definitely deserving of World Series MVP.

Pittsburgh Pirates Clinch First Winning Season Since 1992

Baseball fans around the world must cheer for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Their losing seasons ends in 2013. The Pittsburgh Pirates have not had winning season since my twins were born, and they are 19 years of age now. I have served 7 years in the United States Navy and throughout my naval career 1993-2000 the Pirates had no winning season.

Okay, the Pirates have got the monkey off their back. Pittsburgh Pirates are looking for more than just a winning season. The Pirates are looking to make a lot of noise in October. It will be interesting to watch because the Pirates have shown they are capable of playing with the best in the National League. You should watch the video below and see just went on while the losing seasons piled up for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The streak is over and Pirates have a good chance to really go deep into MLB Postseason.
