Bills, Lions and Packers Still Undefeated After Week 3 in the NFL
There three teams still undefeated after Sunday games. You might expect the Green Bay Packers to be one of those teams but the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions was probably the last team to be teams that are undefeated. Last year Super Bowl Champions Packers are 3-0, along with the Lions and Bills. Both games played by the Bills and Lions were close to say the least.
Bills team expected to defeat the New England Patriots; therefore, they were saying to media there should not be such a shock. It is always shocking when the best QB playing this year, Tom Brady, throws four interceptions. Bills were able to come from 21 points down. They managed to pull off the biggest victory for the franchise in a long time. The Bills have not beaten the Patriots since 2003.
The 28-yard field goal by Rian Lindell was enough to give the Bills a 34-31 win. Everyone did what they needed to secure a 3-0 record. You would think when Brady threw 3 touchdowns in the first half; the Patriots had another blowout on hand. Well, Fred Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick would have something to say about it. Fitzpatrick finished the game with 369 passing yards along with 2 touchdown passes. Fitzpatrick’s toss to Jackson would result in a 38-yard pass play. Fitzpatrick can thank Jackson to moves and power of Jackson that made the run after the catch that set up the winning field goal. The defense by Drayton Florence turned an errand throw by Brady into a pick 6. It was team effort that will make the Bills celebrate a 3-0 record.
Detroit Lions would need overtime to defeat the Minnesota Vikings 26-23. Stafford is proving that when he is on the field, he is a problem for opposing defenses. Stafford passed for 378 yards and two scores. Two scores grabbed by Megatron. Calvin Johnson may have to coolest nickname in football, but there is not much doubt that Johnson is one of the best receivers in the game. He displayed once again why with a 108 yards with 7 catches. He was the receiver of Stafford’s two touchdown passes. The Johnson-Stafford connection led to the game winning field goal. Stafford made an almost impossible throw with the defense closing in for the big hit. Johnson hauls the ball in with signature great grab. Jason Hanson came in and kicked 32-yard field goal that made the Lions 3-0 for first time since 1980. The first time they beat the Vikings in Minnesota in 13 tries that dates back to 1997.
Green Bay was simply the Packers. Chicago Bears did not put up too much of a fight. They had big game out of Aaron Rodgers as usual. Tight End Jermichael Finely had a career day with three touchdown catches out of 7 receptions he caught for the day. He managed 85 yards. Rogers finished day with 297 yards and the three scores caught by Finley. Ryan Grant had 92 yards on 17 carries. The final score was 27-17. Jay Cutler passed for 302 yards and two touchdowns. Bears were unable to establish their running game and protecting the quarterback is still an issue. Bears allowed three sacks and Cutler threw two interceptions.
Three teams are undefeated and Washington Redskins will have the chance to join the Lions Packers, and Bills as other undefeated team if they can beat the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.
