4th Ranked Wisconsin Badgers Best Team in the Big 10
The 4th ranked Wisconsin Badgers are the best Big 10 team this year. Not taking anything away from a good football team, the Big 10 is weak compared to previous years. The Badgers defeated the New Jack of the League when they dismantled then 8th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in their inaugural Big Ten Conference game, 48-17. By far, this is not the same Big 10. As the schedule gets tougher, the Badgers are the only legitimate team that will contend for BCS title. Yes a strong statement, but if you look around the league, what team really scares you. There are not many; however, the Badgers will sell a lot of Football Tickets, and people will watch the Badgers dominate the Big 10.
Badgers rushing attack is as potent as ever with Monte Ball leading the way. Ball has 13 rushing touchdowns along 506 rushing yards. He leads the team in both statistical categories. Badgers added the mobility of Russell Wilson at quarterback; it makes this team very strong on offense. Wilson is mobile but his overall play has put him at or near top of the various Heisman Watch boards on the Internet. He is good and he gives the Badgers some escapability if needed. The defense of the Badgers has done decent job of shutting down opposing offense. To be fair, Nebraska is the only real threat that the Badgers have faced this season.
Who challenges the Badgers? There are not too many teams in the Big 10 that will challenge the Badgers this season. Michigan is playing well, but it is matter of time before they run into a defense like Wisconsin and an offense to match. Michigan defense is suspect. They will have tough time stopping the ground game of the Badgers. Ohio State is having too many problems and the distractions are manifested in the games they have played.
Badgers is ranked number 4 but with the teams ahead of them, fans should not expect them to go too much higher. Oklahoma, LSU and Alabama are subject to go undefeated. However, Oklahoma will get a good test when they meet Texas. Badgers if they continue to play well, they will get to a BCS Bowl. If Bama play LSU then you would expect leap from the Badgers in the rankings. Wisconsin’s Wilson has took everyone by surprise and if he continue doing great things in big games that lead to win then Heisman and BCS Title bid will be in his and his team’s future.
